What We Love

  • The field behind the house, which all animals, domestic and wild, love also.
  • The history of the house. The house and yellow barn were a stop on the stage coach route. The yellow barn held the stage overnight, and the floor joists over the first floor show where they had to be trimmed to make room for the height of the stage coach. The bridle bracket for storing the horses tack is still on the wall in the barn, and the tiny stone corral behind the barn was for the stage horses. Although the big house was built in 1804, the ell was earlier; brought from a house site 1/4 mile in the woods.
  • It is a wonderful house to raise a family, complete with a heated workshop where the boys spent hours developing their woodworking skills.
  • We have lived in many old houses, but none as long as in this one. We love the fact that it is an old home, but modern in all the important ways.
  • The kitchen / family room / dining area that we created.
